"Pelican Gaze" is a watercolor painting. This was a loose study of one pelican that definitely had it's gaze in my direction. The pelicans can be easily spooked, so I usually walk with my back turned towards them and try not to look directly into their eyes. I do this so I can get quite close to them to get a chance to observe them and take more close-up photos for future painting studies. The unusual proportions of this huge sea bird with it's long orange beak is a fascinating sight to see...
It has been both a spiritual and emotional journey for me, from childhood on, that I'm an artist today. My paintings always start with a prayer. I have particularly enjoyed painting with watercolors and at times with oils. I give a lot of credit to my own terrific Dad, for his encouragement to grow up “Free to be, whom one is meant to be”…. The freedom to be an artist, that is always seeking, was constantly supported. I have enjoyed connecting with others through the paintings and embracing the places where I live. I've enjoyed challenging myself to express the wonderful world we all inhabit. Painting watercolors and oils are my way to express a need to glorify creation and my creator. I enjoy playing with photography as well....
