“North Head Lighthouse, Wa. Looking North” watercolor by Cynthia Pride. This Lighthouse was built after the nearby Cape Disappointment Lighthouse was up and going. The ships and boats that were voyaging from the North could not see the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. North Head Lighthouse was built to shine a light to the oncoming Columbia River destination where the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse would further shine its light on all the River travelers. This is a very tall lighthouse and can be seen for miles around. It’s a gorgeous place to visit and one can get incredible views, both North and South along the Washington/Oregon coast. This is the new “original” look with the recent renovations. This is my 3rd painting of North Head Lighthouse.
It has been both a spiritual and emotional journey for me, from childhood on, that I'm an artist today. My paintings always start with a prayer. I have particularly enjoyed painting with watercolors and at times with oils. I give a lot of credit to my own terrific Dad, for his encouragement to grow up “Free to be, whom one is meant to be”…. The freedom to be an artist, that is always seeking, was constantly supported. I have enjoyed connecting with others through the paintings and embracing the places where I live. I've enjoyed challenging myself to express the wonderful world we all inhabit. Painting watercolors and oils are my way to express a need to glorify creation and my creator. I enjoy playing with photography as well....
