"Pelican Elegance" is a watercolor painting. These pelicans on our Pacific Northwest coast, are very large with extra long beaks. I'm always intrigued by the elegant look and movement of these magnificent seabirds. They casually walk along the sand in the shallow waters, grooming themselves with their beaks. They then fly off over the waves of the ocean, in long lines, swooping down often to catch a fish or two. I look forward to their yearly arrival on our coast, anytime from Spring to Summer.
It has been both a spiritual and emotional journey for me, from childhood on, that I'm an artist today. My paintings always start with a prayer. I have particularly enjoyed painting with watercolors and at times with oils. I give a lot of credit to my own terrific Dad, for his encouragement to grow up “Free to be, whom one is meant to be”…. The freedom to be an artist, that is always seeking, was constantly supported. I have enjoyed connecting with others through the paintings and embracing the places where I live. I've enjoyed challenging myself to express the wonderful world we all inhabit. Painting watercolors and oils are my way to express a need to glorify creation and my creator. I enjoy playing with photography as well....
